Liz Tasa

Photographer from Piura, Peru, based in Las Vegas (USA) with over 14 years of experience. Graduated from the Master’s program in Documentary Photography at Centro de la Imagen (2018) and the Faculty of Communication Sciences at the University of Piura (2012).

She has worked as a photojournalist for Diario El Comercio (Piura, 2013-2015) and Diario El Correo (Piura, 2016). Her personal work focuses on social issues in Peru, such as forced sterilizations during Fujimori’s government (1995-2000) and the floods caused by El Niño in Piura (2017). She is currently a member of Women Photograph.

Finalist and Awarded Projects:

  • 1st place in the series category with the Kápar project in the Fotógrafas Latinoamericanas competition organized by Fotógrafas Latam.

  • 2nd place with Kápar in the Strength of Women category at POY LATAM 2019.

  • Nominated for the Joop Swart Masterclass of World Press Photo 2019.

  • Selected for the 6x6 Global Talent Program of World Press Photo 2019.

  • Finalist in Women Photographers for Ph Museum and published in Vogue Magazine.

  • Finalist with Kápar in PHOTO IILA – XI Edition of the IILA-FOTOGRAFIA Prize ("Gender Equality"), Rome (2019).

  • Winner of the artistic residency in Switzerland Smarth: Sustainable Art for Mountain Regions.

  • Winning photo in The Harvard Review of Latin America: Enfoque en Perú, representing Ojos Propios (2015), etc.
